In this era of an extraordinarily difficult economy, with federal, state and local governments having extreme financial challenges, the roles of PANO and Standards for Excellence is far more critical than ever before in the nonprofit history of the Commonwealth.
Standards for Excellence has been a long and extended process, but a very worthwhile endeavor that has led our board to adopt or change many policies, to involve the board in the Standards process and to create a foundation that should enlighten both existing members of our board and those joining the “Standards” community for the first time. It is particularly noteworthy that our agency is the third in all of northeastern Pennsylvania to be so honored.
Our motto is “A Family You Can Count On.” We exist in a geographic area that has a long time slogan, “The Valley with a Heart.” This certification and the astonishing collaboration that resulted in putting together the Standards document show that both of these phrases are not just words, but have powerful meaning to the families, couples and individuals we serve.
