Public Policy Committee

PANO's
primary focus is on generic nonprofit issues. PANO
monitors and advises members on state legislation, legislative
proposals, regulations, relevant judicial decisions,
departmental guidelines and procedures relevant to the
nonprofit sector.
Please
notify PANO if you would like to become an ad hoc member
of the PANO Public Policy Committee and/or added to the
e-mail list for public policy announcements. We
are pleased to announce a close working relationship with
Tony Ross at the United Way of Pennsylvania
on public policy issues. We
also work closely with
Independent Sector,
OMB Watch, and
NCNA in
Washington, D.C. and the Union
Institute, GPNP and other state and national
nonprofit groups to develop coordinated strategies at the
state and federal level.
PANO
conducts research and education programs on public policy,
testifies, forms and participates in advocacy coalitions,
builds cooperative partnerships with other groups, and
utilizes the media and other informational mediums. Legislators
and legislative staff currently seek our opinion on proposed
legislation, and we are frequently asked to serve on
various administrative task forces.
PANO
addresses emerging issues facing the nonprofit sector
and continues to strengthen its role as the voice of the
nonprofit sector. We work with our members
to build relationships with governmental representatives
so they can better represent their views on public
policy issues of importance to them.
