Support the Standards For Excellence
Since the Fall of 2002 The
Standards for Excellence has provided training sessions for over 4,600
organizations, distributed over 24,000 Educational Resource Packets, over 15,000
copies of the codebook, and certified 49 organizations statewide. The impact of
the training sessions has been that organizations report an average of 4.6 on a
scale of 1-5 that the information gained through the Standards program has had
an immediate impact on improving operational efficiency. Organizations that have
moved on to achieve certification report the following:
Boards
are more engaged, more efficient and have a better awareness of their
responsibilities (73%)
Improvement
in quality of programs and services and an increase in organizational awareness
(100%)
Increased
credibility within their community of peers (79%)
Increased
organizational strength and self confidence (87%)
Increased
organization and operational effectiveness (87%)
Increased
funding opportunities (64%)
Conducted by the Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit
Organizations as a part of its mission to advance the nonprofit sector and
improve the quality of life in Pennsylvania, the Standards program has grown
mainly from the support of foundations, corporations, United Ways and
individuals. While participation charitable nonprofit organizations pay fees
for trainings and certification, these fees are far below the cost of the
services.
It is time for the nonprofit sector to shore up its
operations through implementation of greater accountability standards and
transparency in operations. You have an opportunity to partner in strengthening
the sector that is the heart and soul of our communities; without it, the
quality of life would suffer greatly.
